Pearse Scores Only Goal for Women’s Soccer in 1-0 Victory over Maine

The Central Connecticut women's soccer team beat Maine 1-0 on Thursday night in Yarmouth, ME. The Blue Devils scored early in the game and held the lead for the rest of the competition. Tonight's win makes five in a row for Central and the fifth shutout of the season.
CCSU is now 6-1-1 on the season, while the Black Bears fall to 3-3-1 overall.
The Blue Devils scored the first and only goal of the game. Senior Danielle Pearse found the back of the net after she received a pass from sophomore Roma McLaughlin with 33:09 remaining in the half.
UMaine had two corner kick opportunities in the second half, both were deflected by senior goalkeeper Ashley Cavanaugh.
The Blue Devils had a 6-to-2 advantage in shots on goal. Cavanaugh finished with two saves for Central including her fifth shutout of the season, Annalena Kriebisch finished with five saves.
Central returns to action at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday Sept. 16, when it hosts Seton Hall in New Britain, CT.
