Women's Soccer Honored With NSCAA Team Academic Award
Blue Devils honored for 3.54 team GPA.
The Central Connecticut women's soccer team was honored with the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award for the 2014-15 season it was announced Wednesday by the NSCAA. The Blue Devils earned the honor by maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.54 over the academic year.
A total of 859 soccer teams (305 men, 554 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 2014-15 academic year.
Of that total, 208 schools had both their men's and women's programs recognized, including CCSU. The Central men's squad maintained a 3.20.
The CCSU women's soccer team was among six squads honored from the Northeast Conference, joining Bryant, LIU Brooklyn, Mount St. Mary's, Saint Francis U and Wagner on the prestigious list.
The Blue Devils won their eighth Northeast Conference championship in 2014 and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. Central was tabbed the 2015 preseason favorite by the league's coaches and after a 4-2-2 start will open league play against LIU Brooklyn on October 4.
