Trio of Blue Devils Named All-Conference
CCSU ended the season with wins over two NEC Tournament teams
A trio of Central Connecticut women's lacrosse players were named to the Northeast Conference Second Team on Thursday night. The announcement was made at the annual postseason banquet prior to the start of the NEC Tournament.
Central ended the season with a 6-10 overall record and a 3-4 mark in NEC play, good for a tie for fourth place. The Blue Devils lost out on the tie-breaker and missed the tournament, despite wins in the final week over two NEC Tournament participants (Mount St. Mary's and Wagner).
On Thursday night seniors Morgan Tullar and Jessica Sudock, as well as junior Madison Hughes were all named to the NEC Second Team.
Tullar is an All-Conference selection for the third straight season. She was the NEC Goalkeeper of the Year and a First Team pick last season, and was a Second Team selection as a sophomore in 2013. She played every minute in goal for the Blue Devils on the year, and became the school's all-time win leader with 22 career wins. She finished her career with over 3,000 minutes played, 452 saves and 48 career starts.
Hughes is also an All-Conference pick for the second straight season. She was a First Team pick as a sophomore. In 2015 she led the team with 24 goals scored and also led the team with 30 total points on the season. She was the team leader in ground balls (35), third in draw controls (29), first in caused turnovers (22) and started all 16 games on the season.
Sudock is an All-Conference pick for the first time in her career, also named to the Second Team on Thursday. She helped to anchor a defense that allowed just over eight goals per game on the season. Three of the four conference losses on the year came by just one goal, and the other came by four to conference regular season champion Bryant on the road. For the NEC season the Blue Devils allowed just over nine goals per game.
