Women's Lax Stops Manhattan 5-3 on the Road
Tullar makes 11 saves in Wednesday's win
The Central Connecticut women's lacrosse team went on the road and topped Manhattan 5-3 on Wednesday afternoon. Senior goalkeeper Morgan Tullar made 11 saves in goal for the Blue Devils, who are now 2-5 overall on the season.
Sophomore Alexandra Hooker led the offensive attack for the Blue Devils scoring twice and assisting on a third goal.
With the Blue Devils trailing 1-0, Hooker assisted on a goal from senior Brigit Hogan to tie the game with just under 14 minutes to play in the first half. Manhattan would score the next goal of the game to take a 2-1 lead, but the Blue Devils would respond before halftime.
Hooker's first goal of the game tied the score 2-2 with 1:25 left before halftime, and then sophomore Marissa Soto scored with 21 seconds left in the first half to give the Blue Devils the 3-2 lead.
Manhattan would score the first goal of the second half to tie the game 3-3, but then the Blue Devils defense would go the final 23:29 without allowing a goal.
Sophomore Erin Dougherty's goal made it 4-3 at the 18:41 mark and then Hooker scored her second of the game, with 14:52 left, to make it a 5-3 score.
Tullar made six first half saves and five in the second half to post her second victory of the season. Dougherty also had an assist in the game.
Central returns to action on Mar. 21 on the road at Vermont, beginning at 1 p.m.
