Blue Devils Picked Fourth in Preseason Poll
Central opens the season this Saturday at Jacksonville
The Central Connecticut women's lacrosse team was picked to finish fourth in the 2015 Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches Poll released on Wednesday. Central is coming of back-to-back fourth place finishes in the NEC in 2013 and 2014. The Blue Devils open the season on Saturday at 12 noon at Jacksonville.

2015 CCSU Women's Lacrosse Schedule
Bryant University, the 2014 NEC Champion, was picked to repeat in the poll. The Bulldogs hosted the tournament a year ago and topped the Blue Devils 13-7 in the semifinals of the tournament. Bryant received five first place votes. Wagner was picked second in the poll with a pair of first place votes. They were second a year ago. Robert Morris, third in 2014, was chosen third in the poll and received one first place vote.
Central was picked fourth, followed by Mount St. Mary's, Sacred Heart, LIU Brooklyn and St. Francis U.
The Blue Devils were fourth in the league last season with a 4-3 record. They finished the season 7-10 overall. In 2013 the Blue Devils finished second in the league with a 7-2 record. They set a school-record with nine wins in a 9-9 season. The 16 total wins in the last two seasons matched a school-record set between the 2012 and 2013 seasons. In the last three years the Blue Devils have won 23 games.
First year head coach Tonya Kotowicz and the Blue Devils will open the 2015 season on the road at Jacksonville this Saturday at 12 noon. They will play their first two games on the road, including a trip to Iona on Feb. 21. The first home game of the season is scheduled for Feb. 27 vs. Siena. Fans can watch every home game, and road NEC games, live on NEC Front Row this season.
