Women's Lax Falls at Home to Brown
Blue Devils now 1-3 overall on the season
The Central Connecticut women's lacrosse team dropped to 1-3 overall on the season with a 13-5 home loss to Brown on Sunday on Arute Field. Brown improves to 3-0 on the season with the victory. Central will return to action on Saturday on the road at Albany as 12 noon.
The Blue Devils struck first on the first goal of the game from sophomore Alexandra Hooker just three minutes into the first half.
Brown responded however, and scored the next four goals to build a 4-1 advantage with 13:55 on the clock.
Junior Madison Hughes cut the lead to 4-2 with a free position goal at 12:06. Brown answered and scored the final goal of the half to make it 5-2 at halftime.
Sophomore Marissa Soto cut the lead to 5-3 to open the second half with her fourth goal of the season. The Bears would answer in a big way, scoring the next five goals by five different players and building the lead to 10-3 with 21:18 remaining. The quick 5-0 run by the Bears took just over five minutes.
The Blue Devils scored the next two, including the second goal of the game from Hooker and one from junior Falynn McCartney to cut the Brown lead to 10-5 with 7:40 left.
Brown would score the final three goals of the game for the 13-5 victory.
Senior goalkeeper Morgan Tullar made 11 saves in goal for the Blue Devils in the loss. Brown's Kellie Roddy had 10 in her third victory of the season.
Brown held a 31-21 edge in shots and had a 12-7 advantage in draw controls.
The Blue Devils return to action on Saturday, Mar. 7 at 12 noon at Albany.
