Men's Track at Yale on Sunday
The Central Connecticut men's track team competed in its final tune-up before the NEC Championships on Sunday. The Blue Devils had several good performances at the non-team scoring meet at Yale. Sophomore Anthony Gonsalves finished second in the 3,000 meter steeplechase.
The Central Connecticut men's track team competed in its final tune-up before the NEC Championships on Sunday. The Blue Devils had several good performances at the non-team scoring meet at Yale. Sophomore Anthony Gonsalves finished second in the 3,000 meter steeplechase.
Gonsalves ran a 9:42.66 in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. He was only three seconds behind the first place finisher. Sophomore Mohamed Hrezi earned a third place finish in the 800 meter. He ran a 1:53.26 and finished just a second off of the winner.
On the infield, freshman Denzell Jones earned top-five finishes in the long jump and the triple jump. Jones, the NEC's Most Out Standing Freshman in the winter, long jumped 6.69 meters to finish fifth. He followed that with a fourth place finish on a 13.98 meter mark in the triple jump.
The Blue Devils return to action this weekend at the Northeast Conference Championships.
