Alexander Leads Blue Devils on Day One of New England Championships
The Central Connecticut track team opened up the 2011 New Egland Championships on a positive note as junior Sam Alexander took first in the 5K. On the women's side the Blue Devils were led by a school record performance in the distance medley relay.
The Central Connecticut track team opened up the 2011 New Egland Championships on a positive note as junior Sam Alexander took first in the 5K. On the women's side the Blue Devils were led by a school record performance in the distance medley relay.
Alexander posted a 14:38.27 in the 5,000 meters finishing just ahead of Brian Marsh of Wesleyan. Alexander earned first place points for his team with the performance.
Senior Katherine Bossardet led the women posting a seventh place finish in the 5,000 meters. She ran a 17:52.89 to earn team points.
The Blue Devil women set a new school record with their performance in the distance medley relay. The Blue Devil team of Amanda Asaro, Kate McGuire, Megan MacBryde and Elizabeth Eberhardt ran a 12:18.17 to finish eighth and set a new CCSU record.
The Blue Devil men and women return to action today, as champions will be crowned in the remaining events. As well as the New England team championship.
