Track and Field Finishes Day One of NEC Championships
The Central Connecticut men's track team finished day one of the Northeast Conference Championships in seventh place after claiming 11 team points behind a pair of top-five finishes. The women's team is currently tied for ninth following the four events of day one.
The Central Connecticut men's track team finished day one of the Northeast Conference Championships in seventh place after claiming 11 team points behind a pair of top-five finishes. The women's team is currently tied for ninth following the four events of day one.
Juniors Sam Alexander and Rashad Williams led the men's team on day one of the championships.
Williams finished fourth in the shot put, he posted a best throw of 16.28 meters (53' 5"). His fourth place finish earned five of the Blue Devils team points on day one.
Alexander picked up the other six points for the Blue Devils on day one. The junior distance runner finished third in the 3,000 meters. Alexander turned in an 8:34.04 performance at the championships to get Central into seventh place for the day.
The NEC Indoor Championships will conclude tomorrow with 13 more event finals.
