Blue Devils 12th After Day One at Delaware
Stoddart and Williams lead Blue Devils in first 36 holes on Saturday
The Central Connecticut women's golf team sits in 12th place after the first day at the UD Lady Blue Hen Invitational on Saturday. The tournament is being played at the Rehoboth Beach Country Club and is a par-72 course.
The Blue Devils shot a team score of 343 in the first round and improved 19 strokes in the second round to shoot 324 and post a two round score of 667.
Junior Kaitlyn Stoddart and Ella Williams sit in a tie for 43rd place overall after both shooting 164 in the first two rounds. Williams fired a first round score of 81 to lead CCSU, and followed that up with an 83 in the second round. Stoddart shot 85 in the first round and then a team-best score of 79 in the second.
Sophomore Cecy Gutierrez shot 86 in the first round and then improved six shots in the second to shoot 80 for a score of 166 and put her in a tie for 51st place overall.
Senior Sarah Boden shot 91 in the first round and then rebounded in the second for an 82 and two round score of 173. She is tied for 65th place.
Sophomore Tara Whelan shot 92 in the first and 88 in the second for a score of 180.
The third and final round will begin with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on Sunday.
