Women's Golf Fires 306 in Second Round at Dartmouth, Finishes Fifth
Boden posts best collegiate round with 71 on Sunday
The Central Connecticut women's golf team shot an impressive second round score of 306 on Sunday on day two of the Dartmouth Invitational at the Hanover Country Club. The 306 is one of the best rounds in program history, and the best team score since the Blue Devils fired a 307 in the first round of the St. John's Intercollegiate in September of 2012.
Leading the way was senior Sarah Boden who posted the best round of her collegiate career with the Blue Devils, shooting 71 to go along with her day one score of 79 on Saturday. She finished tied for sixth place overall with her two-day total of 150. Her 71 matched the second best round of the entire tournament.
All five Blue Devils bettered their individual rounds on Sunday, and as a team Central took 19 strokes off of their round one score. Central's round of 306 gave them a score of 631 for the tournament, good for a fifth place finish.
Dartmouth won the tournament title, followed by Boston University, Hartford, Albany and then the Blue Devils. Central climbed three spots in the standings on Sunday.
Junior Ella Williams shot a 77 on Sunday, while sophomore Tara Whelan fired a score of 78. Whelan took seven strokes off her score in round one. Sophomore Cecy Gutierrez shot 80 and junior Kaitlyn Stoddart shot 82. Williams finished tied for 19th place overall, while Gutierrez finished tied for 27th. Whelan was tied for 33rd and Stoddart was 40th.
