Women's Golf Finishes 10th at Towson on Monday
Stoddart is top individual finisher for the Blue Devils
The Central Connecticut women's golf team finished with a day two score of 327 and finished in 10th place at the Tignanelli Towson Invitational. The tournament was played at Eagles Nest Country Club in Phoenix, MD. The course is a par-72.
FINAL RESULTS
The Blue Devils fired a first round score of 324 on Sunday, and followed that up with Monday's round of 327. They were tied for 10th place after the first round of play.
Junior Kaitlyn Stoddart, who led Central in the first round with a score of 78, shot 80 in the second round to once again pace the team, and finish with a two-round score of 158. She was tied for 17th place overall.
Sophomore Cecy Gutierrez shot an 81 on Monday, matching her first round score and giving her a total of 162 for the tournament. She was tied for 34th place overall.
Junior Ella Williams also tied for 34th place after shooting an 83 on Monday, to go along with her 79 on Sunday. Sophomore Tara Whelan also shot an 83 on Monday, five strokes better than Sunday's round when she carded an 88. She finished tied for 70th place overall.
Senior Sarah Boden shot a day-two score of 92 giving her a total of 178 and an 84th place finish.
Towson won the team title with a two-day score of 618 (308-310), narrowly beating out Fairleigh Dickinson. The Knights turned in the best round two score of the day, 307, and finished in second with a two-day total of 620. Bethune Cookman was third (627) followed by Albany (631) and Hartford (638) and Towson B (638) rounding out the top five.
Central's two-day total of 651 was two shots behind Lehigh (649). St. Francis U finished eighth overall at 642, followed by Hofstra (643) and then Lehigh and CCSU.
Six Northeast Conference teams played in the tournament. FDU was the top league team, followed by St. Francis U, then CCSU, who was followed by Sacred Heart (654), Wagner (657) and LIU Brooklyn (683).
