Women's Golf 10th After Day One at Towson
Stoddart tied for 10th overall
The Central Connecticut women's golf team sits in 10th place out of 19 teams after the first round of the Tignanelli Towson Invitational on Sunday. The Blue Devils shot a round one score of 324 and sit just eight shots back of third place in the 19-team field.
The tournament will finish on Monday with the final 18 holes. It is being played at Eagles Nest Country Club in Phoenix, MD. The course is a par-72.
The Blue Devils shot a round one score of 324 (+36) and sit one shot ahead of Lehigh and two shots ahead of Navy, St. John's and Fairfield who all shot 326.
Central is one shot behind Hofstra, two behind Albany, three behind St. Francis U and four behind Towson (B). The top-10 teams are separated by just 16 strokes. Towson lead with a round one score of 308, followed by Fairleigh Dickinson (313) and then Hartford in third with a score of 316. Bethune-Cookman is fourth with a 317, followed by Monmouth (318) to round out the top five.
The Blue Devils are led by junior Kaitlyn Stoddart who shot a round one score of 78 to sit in a tie for 10th place overall. Junior Ella Williams shot 79 and is tied for 15th place overall.
Sophomore Cecy Gutierrez fired a round one score of 81 and is tied for 39th place overall. Senior Sarah Boden shot an 86 and sophomore Tara Whelan shot an 88 to round out the scores for the Blue Devils.
The tournament finishes on Monday.
