Softball Swept By Bryant on Saturday
The Central Connecticut softball team dropped a Northeast Conference doubleheader on Saturday. The Blue Devils fell 9-7 in game one and 9-5 in game two on a rainy day in New Britain. Senior Kendall Sours powered the Blue Devils with five hits in seven at bats on the day. The losses drop the Blue Devils to 20-17-1 on the season and 7-7 in NEC play.

Game One
The Blue Devils scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, but their comeback fell short as Bryant held on for the 9-7 victory. Senior Kendall Sours went four-for-four and drove in a pair of runs.
The Bulldogs got on the board with the first five runs before the Blue Devils answered with a single run in the bottom of the third. Sours doubled to lead off the inning and then a batter later freshman Arielle Bruno doubled to drive her home.
Bryant tacked on five runs in the top of the fourth, but Central chipped away with a run in the bottom of the fourth. Sours delivered an RBI single to score the Blue Devil's run.
Four innings of shutout relief pitching kept the Blue Devils in the game at 9-3 heading to the bottom of the seventh. Five straight Blue Devils reached base with two outs in the inning. Including Sours, who picked up an RBI single for her fourth hit of the game.
Sophomore Jordan Tingley took the loss for Central. She falls to 8-9 on the season after allowing nine runs, seven earned, in three innings pitched.
Game Two
Bryant scored four runs in the first, two in the second and two in the third to build an 8-0 lead. The Blue Devils threatened with two on and one out in the bottom of the third, but Central was unable to capitalize.
Central go on the board in the bottom of the fourth with four unearned runs. Central had a pair of runners reach base on errors and then used three walks, a hit batter, and a base hit by Bruno to score four runs.
The Bulldogs tacked on an unearned run in the top of the sixth inning.
The Blue Devils plated a run in the fifth run in the bottom of the sixth, cutting the lead to 9-5, but the game was called because of darkness following the inning.
The Blue Devils return to action on Tuesday at Long Island University.
