Softball Drops Pair at Quinnipiac
The Central Connecticut softball team dropped a Northeast Conference doubleheader on Sunday. The Blue Devils fell 5-0 in game one and then 8-3 in game two. The losses drop the Blue Devils to 19-14-1 on the season and 6-4 in the NEC. Senior Amanda Dilworth finished the day three-for-seven at the plate and drove in a pair of runs.

Game One
The Blue Devils fell in game one by a score of 5-0. Quinnipiac's pitcher dazzled allowing only two hits over seven innings. Sophomore Jordan Tingley took the loss for the Blue Devils she falls to 7-7 on the season.
Tingley allowed four runs on nine hits over four innings. Only two of the runs Tingley surrendered were earned as the Blue Devils made errors in the first and fourth innings that led to unearned runs.
Freshman Arielle Bruno and Dilworth had the hits for the Blue Devils. Dilworth singled to lead off the fourth inning and Bruno singled leading off the sixth. Both finished one-for-three on the day.
Game Two
The Blue Devils jumped out to an early lead in game two. In the first inning Bruno walked and then later came around to score on an error after she had advanced to third on a hit by senior Kat Knowles.
Central tacked on another pair of runs in the second with a five hit attack. Senior Kendall Sours, junior Sarah Vlahos, Bruno, junior Rebecca Mussatti and Dilworth all had singles in the inning. Dilworth's single plated both runs in the inning.
Quinnipiac plated a run in the bottom of the second and then scored another pair in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game at 3-3. In the bottom of the sixth Quinnipiac blew the game open with five runs against senior pitcher Elizabeth Montemurro.
Montemurro allowed eight runs, six earned, over five innings. She struck out six and not walk a batter. She falls to 7-4 on the season with the loss.
Dilworth finished game two with a pair of hits and two RBIs. Bruno went two-for-three in the second game and scored two of the Blue Devils runs.
The Blue Devils return to action on Monday afternoon with a NEC doubleheader at Wagner College. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
