Softball Sweeps Seton Hall, Sets New CCSU Win Record
The Central Connecticut softball team swept a senior day doubleheader from Seton Hall on Thursday. With two wins the Blue Devils are now 29-20-1 on the season. The 29 wins are the most in a season for a CCSU softball team since moving to Division I. Senior Amanda Dilworth had four hits and senior Elizabeth Montemurro earned a win and a save as the Blue Devils took game one 3-0 and game two 3-1.

Senior Amanda Dilworth had four hits and senior Elizabeth Montemurro earned a win and a save as the Blue Devils took game one 3-0 and game two 3-1.
Game One
A trio of seniors helped the Blue Devils to a 3-0 victory in game one. Senior Elizabeth Montemurro pitched a complete game shutout and seniors Amanda Dilworth and Katherine Knowles each hit back-to-back homeruns in the fifth inning to break a scoreless tie.
The back-to-back homeruns got the Blue Devils on the board in the fifth inning. Senior Amanda Dilworth launched a long homerun to right center and two pitches later senior Kat Knowles lined a homerun over the right field fence giving her team a 2-0 lead.
The Blue Devils tacked on an additional run in the sixth inning when junior Rebecca Mussatti's leadoff single went through the legs of Seton Hall's centerfielder. Mussatti advanced all the way to third on the play. After a ground out, sophomore Kate Hoffman delivered a pinch-hit RBI single.
Montemurro allowed a single to the leadoff hitter in the seventh, but she got a weak pop up and induced a double play to end the game.
Montemurro scattered six hits over seven innings. She struck out three and did not walk a batter as she earned her ninth career shutout.
Dilworth and Mussatti each had two hits for the Blue Devils in the game.
Game Two
In the circle sophomore Jordan Tingley held the Pirates to a single run over six innings. The Blue Devils were held to only one hit through the first eight innings, a single by Dilworth, but they had a comeback in them.
Hits by sophomore Macy Stefanski and freshman Arielle Bruno set up first and second for Dilworth. She lined a double off the right field fence scoring both runners and giving the Blue Devils their first lead of the game in the bottom of the sixth inning. Sophomore Kelsey Barlow delivered a sacrifice fly to push the lead to 3-1.
Montemurro entered the game in the seventh and shutout the Pirates to earn her second save of the season.
Tingley went six innings and allowed one run while scattering six hits. She struck out three and walked two. She improves to 11-9 on the season with the victory.
Dilworth finished with two hits and two RBI. Stefanski and Bruno each had a hit in the three run sixth inning.
The Blue Devils must now wait for the results of Saturday's doubleheader between Monmouth and Mount St. Mary's to determine if they have reached the Northeast Conference Tournament.
