Blue Devils Fall to Perfect Illinois State
The Central Connecticut softball team fell to Illinois State on Sunday morning in their final game at the USF Fairfield Suites Tournament. Illinois State came away with a 9-0, six inning victory, but the story of the game was pitcher Taylor Baxter who threw a perfect game. The Blue Devils fall to 1-4 on the season with the loss.

The Blue Devils were unable to generate any offense against Baxter, who faced the minimum 18 batters over her six innings of work. She struck out 8 of the 18 batters she faced.
After her team had tacked on three runs in the top of the sixth, Baxter went out and closed the door on the mercy rule victory getting junior Samantha Cieri to ground out to second base to complete the perfect game and give her team a 9-0 victory.
Freshman Julie Marks started in the circle for the Blue Devils. She went five innings giving up 11 hits and four earned runs. She falls to 1-1 on the season with the loss. Sophomore Jordan Tingley pitched the sixth inning allowing three runs on three hits.
The Blue Devils will return to action on Thursday in a doubleheader against Coppin State, first pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
