Softball Splits With Coppin State
The Central Connecticut softball team split a doubleheader with Coppin State on Thursday evening. The Blue Devils dropped the first game 3-1, but rebounded for a 22-2 victory over the Eagles in the second game. Junior Rebecca Mussatti led the Blue Devil offense accounting for 10 of Central's runs on the day.

Game 1
The Blue Devils fell to the Eagles in game one despite a solid pitching performance from freshman Julie Marks. Marks allowed only three runs in the game, but the Blue Devil offense was limited to a single run in the loss. Marks falls to 1-2 on the season with the 3-1 loss.
Mussatti scored the only run for the Blue Devils, she finished the game 1-4 with a double. Senior Amanda Dilworth went 2-3 and picked up the RBI for the Blue Devils. Freshman Arielle Bruno also had two hits in the game.
The loss dropped the Blue Devils to 1-5 on the season.
Game 2
The Blue Devils supported starting pitcher Jordan Tingley with 22 runs of support as they bounced back from a game one loss with a 22-2 beating of Coppin State. Tingley allowed only two runs in the game and picked up the win improving to 1-1 on the season. Mussatti led the way again by going 4-4 and scoring five runs.
Mussatti was on base five times in the game, walking and recording three single and a double. The Blue Devil leadoff hitter scored each time she reached base and also knocked in four runs to help the Blue Devil offense, but she was not alone in game two.
Dilworth went 2-3 in the second game, driving in three runs and scoring three runs. She was followed by Bruno who posted a 3-4 day in the second game while recording a game-high five rbis in the victory. Junior Sarah Vlahos also got in the act, knocking in a pair of runs on three hits including a pair of doubles.
The Blue Devils improved to 2-5 on the season with the victory.
The Blue Devils road trip continues with a stop at Hampton for a three day tournament.
