Blue Devils Fall to #5 Alabama
The Central Connecticut softball team fell to #5 Alabama on Friday evening at the USF Fairfield Suits Tournament. The Blue Devils scored first but the Crimson Tide proved to be to strong as they pulled away for a 17-1 victory. Central Connecticut got on the board with an rbi single from sophomore Kelsey Barrlow.

The Blue Devils scored first but the Crimson Tide proved to be to strong as they pulled away for a 17-1 victory. Central Connecticut got on the board with an rbi single from sophomore Kelsey Barlow.
Junior Rebecca Mussatti led of the game with a single and stole second to set the Blue Devils up. With two outs in the inning Barlow came to the plate and singled to center driving home the speedy Mussatti from second base.
The Tide answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning and then by holding Central scoreless in the top of the second. In the bottom half of that inning Alabama opened the game up scoring 10 runs to increase their lead to 12-1.
The Tide tacked on five more runs in the fourth to cruise to a 17-1 mercy rule victory.
Central was led by Barlow who was two for two at the dish and drove in the Blue Devils first run of the season. Sophomore Jordan Tingley took the loss on the mound her first as a Blue Devil.
Central returns to action tomorrow with a pair of games at the USF Fairfield Suites Tournament.
