Senior second baseman Amanda Dilworth was named Akadema/Northeast Conference Softball Player of the Week on Monday afternoon. Dilworth posted a .769 batting average over the Blue Devils four victories last week. She was responsible for the big blow, a grand slam, in Central's historic 17 run inning at Princeton on Wednesday.
Dilworth opened her week with a three-for-three performance in game one against Princeton. In that game she had a double, triple, RBI, and a run scored. She followed that with a three-for-four performance in game two. In game two she registered her second double of the day and launched a grand slam to cap the Blue Devils 17 run second inning.
The Blue Devils moved to 4-0 in NEC Play with a doubleheader sweep of Fairleigh Dickinson on Saturday. Dilworth again proved to be a spark plug for the Blue Devils. She went three-for-four with two runs scored in game one. Her streak of three hit games was snapped in the second game of the doubleheader as she went one-for-two with a walk and two more runs scored.
The doubleheader sweeps helped the Blue Devils build and eight game winning streak for the first time since joining the Northeast Conference.
Dilworth finished the week 10-for-13 at the plate with two doubles, a triple and a homerun. She had five RBIs and seven runs scored this week and was on base in 12 of 15 plate appearances thanks to a pair of walks.
Her performance this week raised her batting average 106 points. She is now hitting .324 on the season.
Central is 14-9-1 on the season and 4-0 in NEC action. The Blue Devils return to action on Wednesday when they host Temple for a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
