Softball Sweeps Day One at Hampton
The Central Connecticut softball team swept a double header on day one of the Hampton Lady Pirate Classic. The Blue Devils defeated Maryland Eastern Shore 4-3 in extra innings before dropping the host Lady Pirates 11-3. The Blue Devils finished the day at 4-5 for the season with the two wins.

Game One
The Blue Devils were led by senior pitcher Elizabeth Montemurro in game one. Montemurro pitched six scoreless innings to earn the win. After giving way to sophomore Jordan Tingley in the fifth inning, Montemurro returned to the circle in the seventh to close out the game earning the win in extra innings.
Offensively the Blue Devils got contributions from sophomore Kelsey Barlow and freshman Courtney Collins and Stephanie Chotkevys. The trio all accounted for an rbi in the game with Chotkevys driving in the winning run in the bottom of the eighth.
Collins was the big hitter for the Blue Devils going two for four in the game with an rbi and two runs scored.
Montemurro improves to 1-2 with the victory.
Game Two
The Blue Devil offense got going in game two for the second day in a row as they scored 11 runs against the host Lady Pirates. Freshman pitcher Julie Marks earned the win in the circle pitching allowing three runs, none earned, over six innings pitched as the Blue Devils cruised to a 11-3 victory.
Offensively, senior Erica Koehler, junior Sarah Vlahos and sophomore Macy Stefanski registered the big blows for the Blue Devils in a five run sixth inning. Koehler, Vlahos, and Stefanski recorded three straight doubles. Koehler and Stefanski each drove in a run and Vlahos drove in a pair. As Central blew the game open in the inning.
The Blue Devils started the game off well as speedy junior Rebecca Mussatti lead off the game with an inside the park homerun. Not to be out done freshman Arielle Bruno led off the third inning with a blast to left field for her first collegiate homerun.
Marks earned the win to improve to 2-2on the season, she walked one and struck out one.
The Blue Devils return to action tomorrow at the Hampton Lady Pirate Classic.
