Kaprelyan Earns NEC Volleyball Weekly Honor
Madelyn Kaprelyan was named Molten NEC Player of the Week for a second straight week.
Junior Madelyn Kaprelyan of the Central Connecticut volleyball team was named the Molten Northeast Conference co-Player of the Week it was announced by the league office on Monday. Kaprelyan helped Central to a 1-1 week in conference play to earn the honor for the second straight week. She shared the award with LIU's Viktoria Fink.
Kaprelyan continued to rack up big numbers, highlighted by her second triple-double of the season that netted her a second straight NEC Player of the Week accolade. The Huntington Beach, CA, native posted averages of 4.57 kills, 4.57 assists and 3.14 digs per set for the Blue Devils. She gave defending NEC champion LIU all it could handle in a four-set loss on Sunday, compiling 18 kills, 19 assists, 16 digs, three blocks and a healthy .300 hitting percentage. A day prior, Kaprelyan led CCSU to a sweep over St. Francis Brooklyn with 14 kills, 13 assists and six digs while hitting .440 on the evening. She finished the week hitting at a .394 clip and now ranks second in the NEC with a .298 season mark. Kaprelyan is also fifth on the circuit with 3.13 kills per set.
The Blue Devils are back in action with a pair of home matches this weekend. CCSU hosts Fairleigh Dickinson on Friday at 7:00 p.m. and Sacred Heart on Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
