Volleyball Stopped at Hartford on Wednesday
The Blue Devils travel to Quinnipiac on Friday night.
The Central Connecticut volleyball team fell at Hartford, 3-0, on Wednesday night in West Hartford, CT. Sophomore Emma Henderson led CCSU with 12 kills and classmate Ashlyn Eisenga had 13 digs.
Central slips to 1-4 on the season, while the Hawks improved to 1-2.

The Hawks took the match in straight sets (25-23, 25-15, 25-17). Hartford jumped out to a 6-2 lead in the opening game, but the Blue Devils would manage to climb back into the mathc and would take a late 17-14 lead. A kill by junior Morgan Woycik opened a 5-0 run to put CCSU in front. A kill by junior Gala Galabova would give Central a 17-14 lead, before the Hawks came back with three unanswered points of their own. A kill by Henderson put CCSU back ahead, 18-17, but after an error by the Hawks pushed the lead to two points Hartford answered with three points to regain the lead. Henderson's kill would tie the game, 20-20, one last time before the Hawks closed the game on a 5-3 run.
Hartford opened the second game by taking a 5-1 lead and would push the margin to as much as 14-4. CCSU was unable to get closer than 17-12 and the Hawks would take a 2-0 lead in the match.
In the third game, consecutive kills by senior Raquel Quirarte and a kill by junior Madelyn Kaprelyan would put CCSU ahead, 6-3. Following a Hartford timeout, the hosts would roll off five straight points to build a two-point lead. The teams would go back and forth until the Hawks broke a 16-16 tie with five straight points to begin a 9-1 run to close the match.
Junior Erin McDermott had 20 kills and eight digs, while senior Kaitlyn Kushman added 12 assists for Central.
Central travels to Quinnipiac on Friday night for a 6:00 p.m. match.
