Volleyball Falls to Harvard in Five on Friday
CCSU will face Northeastern and Michigan State on Saturday at the Fairfield Invite.
The Central Connecticut volleyball team fell to Harvard, 3-2, on Friday night at the Fairfield Invite. The Crimson won by scores of 21-25, 19-25, 25-20, 25-23, 15-12.
Central is 2-6 overall on the year, while Harvard is 1-3.
CCSU will face Northeastern and Michigan State on Saturday at the Fairfield Invite.
Central used a 6-0 run late in the first game to take a 23-18 lead and would eventually take the game after a kill by junior Gala Galabova.
The Blue Devils took a lead late in the second game, using a run of six straight points to break an 18-18 tie. After a momentary stop by Harvard, CCSU took the game after a Crimson error.
The Crimson would rally to continue the match by taking the third game. Harvard closed with a 7-2 run to extend the contest.
In the fourth game, CCSU led 23-21 but Harvard would score four straight to go to a decisive game. Harvard would lead throughout the fifth game and go on to capture it and win the match, 3-2.
Junior Madelyn Kaprelyan had a team-high 15 kills, while sophomore Emma Henderson had 11 kills and 13 digs. Junior Erin McDermott notched 21 assists and senior Kaitlyn Kushman had 17 assists with 10 digs.
Sophomore Ashlyn Eisenga had 20 digs, while senior Raquel Quirarte hada 14. Sophomore Eline van Heijningen had six blocks.
