Lucia Noin Leads CCSU With 20 Points In Win Over Bridgeport
Blue Devils Top UB, 66-25
A dominant defensive effort led the host Central Connecticut State University Blue Devils to their first win of the season on Friday afternoon, a 66-25 triumph over the visiting University of Bridgeport Purple Knights. CCSU is now 1-7 on the season; while Bridgeport slips to 0-7 overall. Central limited UB to only six total points in the second half and forced the visitors into a total of 31 turnovers which CCSU turned into 33 points. The 25 points scored by Bridgeport are the lowest point total registered by a Central opponent since 29 by St. Francis Brooklyn during the 2012-13 season. Junior Lucia Noin led all scorers in the game with a career-high 20 points for the Blue Devils, as she hit 10-of-15 field goals. Noin, who also grabbed six rebounds, was joined in double figures by senior Alonna Sellers with 18 points, one off her career high, and freshman Dagny Slomack, who netted a career-best 16 points in Friday's win. CCSU's Selina Monestime led all rebounders in the contest with a career-high 12 boards.
