
Women's Basketball Stopped By Dayton, 65-38
Squad Back In Action At Cincinnati On Tuesday Morning
The Central Connecticut State University women's basketball team opened its two-game road trip to the State of Ohio with a 65-38 non-conference loss at the University of Dayton on Sunday afternoon. CCSU is now 1-8 overall so far this season; while UD ups its season mark to 5-3. Graduate student Meghan Kenefick led the Blue Devils in scorin at Dayton with eight points and had five boards. Junior Lucia Noin finished the afternoon with seven points and a team-best six rebounds for CCSU. Dayton's Arianna Smith finished with a double-double with game highs in points at 20 and rebounds with 10. Central struggled on offense all afternoon, as the Blue Devils shot only 16.4 percent from the floor for the game, as they hit 10-of-61 shots. The 38 points scored are a single-game low so far this year for CCSU.

KEY MOMENTS
- Central grabbed a 5-4 lead on a hoop by freshman Dagny Slomack with 7:06 to play in the opening quarter, but Dayton finished the period on an 11-4 run to take a 15-8 lead after 10 minutes of action. Selina Monestime led CSSU with four points in the opening stanza.
- The Blue Devils outscored the host Flyers, 10-9, in the second quarter to make the score 24-18, in favor of the hosts at the break. Monestime led CCSU with five points in the first half, and Lucia Noin grabbed a team-high four rebounds.
- CCSU trailed by only seven points, 31-24, with 5:20 to go in the third quarter, but the Flyers would put the game away with a 15-3 run to finish off the stanza to take a 46-27 lead into the final quarter of play.
- Dayton outscored the visiting Blue Devils, 19-11, in the fourth quarter to make Sunday's final score, 65-38.

- In their last two outings, Central has forced the opposition to commit a total of 54 turnovers; 23 by Dayton on Sunday and 31 by Bridgeport on Friday.
- After recording a season-high 17 steals against Bridgeport on Friday, CCSU had 12 more thefts on Sunday led by Selina Monestime who had four steals.
- The Flyers dominated the key on Sunday scoring 42 points in the paint to only 12 for the Blue Devils. Dayton also finished with a 58-33 rebounding advantage.
- Sunday was a tough day on offense for CSSU as the team had season lows in shooting percent (16.4%) and points scored (38).
- Both teams had 20 points from non-starters on Sunday.
- Central went 16-of-22 from the foul line on Sunday (72.7%).
- Amaya Williams has started all nine games for CSSU so far this season.
