CCSU Welcomes Manhattan On Thursday For 2024-25 Home Opener
Blue Devils And Jaspers Set For A 7:00 PM Tip In Detrick Gymnasium
The Central Connecticut women's basketball team opens its 2024-25 home schedule on Thursday night when the Jaspers of Manhattan College come to Detrick Gymnasium for a 7:00 p.m. contest.

The Blue Devils and Jaspers met for the first time ever in last year's season opener for both squads, and Manhattan came away with a 52-35 win on its home court.
LOOKING BACK AT MONDAY NIGHT…
• Central Connecticut opened its 2024-25 season at the University of Minnesota on Monday evening, and the host Golden Gophers out of the Big Ten Conference defeated the Blue Devils, 89-48.
• Freshman Dagny Slomack led CCSU in scoring in Monday's opener with 11 points, as she hit a team-leading three, 3-point shots. She also led the team with three assists.
• Slomack was joined in double-digit scoring by Alonna Sellers who finished with 10 points. Sellers led all rebounders on Monday night with eight.
• Selina Monestime was next on the Blue Devils rebounding list with seven boards against Minnesota.
• Amaya Williams led the Blue Devils with three steals against the Golden Gophers.
• The Blue Devils canned seven three-pointers in Monday's season opener.
• 11 different players saw action for CCSU on Monday night with eight players seeing at least 14 minutes of playing time. Eight players scored points for the Blue Devils on Monday evening.
SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION ...
• The Manhattan College Jaspers are members of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) and come to New Britain with an 0-1 record after opening the season with an 85-79 loss at Rutgers on Monday night.
• Manhattan was picked to finished sixth in the MAAC in this season's Preseason Conference Coaches' Poll. Senior Petra Juric was named 2nd Team Preseason All-MAAC, and graduate student Ines Gimenez Monserrat earned a 3rd Team All-MAAC nod.
• At Rutgers on Monday, junior Hannah Muhl opened the season with a stellar performance scoring a game-high 28 points with six assists, five rebounds and two steals. Muhl hit six three-point shots versus the Scarlet Knights.
• Ines Gimenez Monserrat chipped in 19 points, and she tied for the team lead with six rebounds on Monday.
• Petra Juric rounded out Manhattan's trio of double-digit scores at Rutgers with 11 points, and she also had two blocked shots and corralled six boards.
• The Jaspers are led by head coach Heather Vulin, who is in season number eight in Riverdale. Vulin has Connecticut ties, as she served as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at sacred Heart University from 2002-2008.

• CCSU's number two ranking in the Preseason Northeast Conference Coaches' Poll is the highest ranking in program history,
• Thursday is the first of 14 home games that will be played in Detrick Gymnasium this season. November will see four home games; followed by two home tilts in December. The 2025 calendar year tips-off with four home Northeast Conference clashes, and the Blue Devils finish off their home slate with three conference games in February and one NEC tussle in March.
• CCSU will play six non-conference games at home this season to go along with eight Northeast Conference contests that begin on January 2, 2025 versus Saint Francis (Pa.) College.
• Last season, Central went an even 6-6 in 12 home games. Manhattan went 7-9 on the road in 2023-24.
