KEY MOMENTS
- The Scarlet Knights scored the first five points of the game in quick fashion before getting their run broken up by a Dejah Jenkins' jumper.
- CCSU could not keep up with Rutgers in the first quarter as the Scarlet Knights outscored them 22-8.
- The Blue Devils sprung to life at the start of the second quarter by way of the three ball. Claire Sutherland-Case got the scoring started, then the three's went as follow: Lanpher, Sutherland-Case, Meghan Kenefick and finally Forever Toppin. With a minute to play in the first half, CCSU had suddenly made this a one possession game (32-29).
- The Scarlet Knights knocked down two more baskets before heading into the break up seven.
- Both offenses went cold to start the second half. The Blue Devils did not record a made field goal until there was 3:33 left in the third, but Rutgers could not get anything to go either, shooting a game-low 26.7% from the floor in the third.
- Berube (6 points) and Toppin (4 points) were the only Blue Devils to connect on their shots in the final frame. Toppin cut the lead to single digits with just under two minutes to play, but Rutgers was able to close out down the stretch and secure the victory.
NOTES
- This is the second time this season that Toppin has led the Blue Devils in rebounds. She had five tonight, and the last time the guard led the team was also with five rebounds against UMass Lowell.
- Berube led the way in scoring yet again. The senior center has been the leading scorer for CCSU in all but one game so far this season. Eden Nibbelink's 17 points narrowly topped Berube's 15 at Syracuse last time out.
