KEY MOMENTS
- CCSU came out of the gates hot against the Bobcats, specifically Berube. The senior scored six of the Blue Devils first eight points in the game, surfing through defenders to get herself open in the paint.
- Meghan Kenefick and Nina Davy splashed home two clutch threes to take the lead at 16-14.
- Kenefick missed a three to tie it up at the end of the first quarter, but Berube grabbed the offensive board and kicked it back out to Belle Lanpher who sank the floater.
- Neither team was able to get much going in the second quarter and the results were sloppy to start. Quinnipiac missed all five of their three point attempts in the second. Though the Blue Devils did not get on the board until six minutes passed in the quarter, Lanpher and Kenefick each drained threes to cut into the deficit. A late and-one from Berube and a nice mid-range shot from Toppin brought CCSU back to within four heading into the second half.
- The offenses seperated from each other in the third quarter. As Quinnipiac caught fire (50% from the field, 40% from three) the Blue Devil offense was halted (18.2% from the field, 28.6% from three). The Bobcats ran away with the lead in the third, ending the quarter up 60-41.
- The Blue Devils played a tight start to the fourth, but the Bobcats used a late 9-0 run to pull away with the lead. Amaya Williams got her first NCAA bucket for the Blue Devils in the closing minutes of the game.
NOTES
- Williams and Emma Bruen both played in their first collegiate games on Saturday, making an impact early and getting some experience to use in conference play.
- Berube led the way with 14 points on an efficient 4-7 line.
- The Blue Devils were all over the ball on defense, grabbing 11 steals. Eden Nibbelink (2), Forever Toppin (3) and Dejah Jenkins (2) each had multiple steals. Jenkins' two steals came in back to back possesions.
