Central Connecticut Women's Basketball Opens Up the Season
The Blue Devils will travel to St. Francis Brooklyn for back to back games.
The Central Connecticut women's basketball team begins its season on Monday, Dec. 14. The Blue Devils will jump right into Northeast Conference play, as they did not compete in any non-conference games. Central Connecticut will meet the Terriers of St. Francis Brooklyn in a two game slate. Both games will take place at 4:00 pm in Brooklyn on Monday and Tuesday. The games will be streamed lived on NEC Front Row, free to all viewers.

Interim head coach Kerri Reaves makes her debut for the Blue Devils. Reaves served as an assistant for 13 years with the Blue Devils and is now seeking her first win as a head coach. St. Francis Brooklyn (0-2) is coming off consecutive losses against the Bryant Bulldogs.
The Blue Devils return three starters from last season, as well as 84% of their scoring from last season. Ashley Berube led the team in scoring as a junior last season, averaging 12.1 ppg. She also made her presence felt in the paint, averaging 1.8 blocks which was fourth in the conference. Seniors Emma McCamus (10.8 ppg) and Ashley Forker (9.3 ppg) also bring back significant scoring.
Central Connecticut looks to pick up where it left off from last season. The Blue Devils won their final two games by double figures. The last game came on March 5, where CCSU took down St. Francis Brooklyn 75-54. Ashley Berube posted a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Dejah Jenkins matched her teammate by also scoring a game high 11 points.
Following Tuesday's game, the Blue Devils will play their home opener on Saturday Dec. 14 against Fairleigh Dickinson at 4:00 pm. The two teams will also meet on Sunday to complete the season series.
