Women's Basketball Assistant Coach Marshall Tapped to Attend NCAA Coaches Academy
Central Connecticut women's basketball assistant coach Jason Marshall has been accepted to attend the 2021 NCAA Basketball Coaches. The NCAA Basketball Coaches Academy provides current basketball coaches at NCAA member institutions an opportunity to expand their knowledge and insight into the world of coaching in the college ranks. During the academy, participants will be trained in a variety of areas that encourage effective coaching, with a focus on the holistic well-being and development of the student-athlete.
Marshall recently completed his seventh season on the Blue Devils' staff. Marshall has also coached at Binghamton and Army West Point prior to coming to New Britain. A 2008 graduate of Ramapo College, he helped the Roadrunners to two NJAC titles and the 2005 NCAA Division III Sweet 16.
Coaches at the academy will engage with industry experts and peers on a wide variety of topics that will enhance their capabilities to serve as an effective coach and a leader of student-athletes both on and off the field. Topics will include effective communication with campus and community constituents, the importance of building a culture of excellence focused on the overall success of student-athletes, winning the head coaching interview and on-the-floor coaching strategies. Discussion will also include personal management throughout the rigors associated with life as a coach.
The program will featurespeakers from the intercollegiate and professional basketball space share their wisdom and enhance participants' capabilities as a leader both on and off the hardwood. Completing the academy will equip coaches with the leadership toolkit and a powerful network that will strengthen their ability succeed in their current role and fulfill future aspirations as a coach.
