Softball Clinches Playoff Berth with Win Over Stonehill
The Central Connecticut softball team earned a playoff berth with their win over Stonehill on Sunday afternoon.
Kaylee Whittaker (13-9) earned her thirteenth win of the season going the distance for The Blue Devils. She gave up six hits and two runs with five strikeouts. KC Machado led the Blue Devils with two hits including a three-run home run. Meg Gorman and Paige Stringer also homered to help Central secure the 8-2 victory.

TOP 1ST: Meg Gorman set the tone with a base hit up the middle to lead The Blue Devils. Gorman scored with some aggressive baserunning after a throwing error from Stonehill and Central took a 1-0 lead. Paige Stringer walked, and KC Machado followed with a three-run homer to give her team a 4-0 lead. The Blue Devils scored two more runs in the inning with an RBI from Grace Lawton and Jazmine Lasane scored on an error by The Skyhawks.
TOP 2ND: Paige Stringer led off the inning with her twelfth home run of the season to tack on another run to the Central lead (7-0).
BOTTOM 5TH: Stonehill scored two runs with an RBI double from Chloe Kelly. The Skyhawks score another run with a base hit by Hannah Sullivan.
TOP 6TH: Meg Gorman led off the inning with a solo shot and Central led 8-to-2.
