Whittaker Throws a No Hitter in Sweep Over Holy Cross
Kaylee Whittaker threw a no-hitter and CCSU notched their sixth straight win.
After collecting two wins vs Holy Cross on Monday the Central Connecticut softball team is 6-0 and has their best start since 2015.

KEY MOMENTS – GAME ONE
- BOTTOM 1st: Reagan Vunak doubled with one to place a runner in scoring position for The Blue Devils. KC Machado picked up where she left off and blasted a home run to score Vunak with two outs that gave Central an early 1-0 lead.
- BOTTOM 4th: Ava Cino homered to left field and brought home Paige Stringer who singled to lead off the inning. Central led 4-0 after four innings of play.
- BOTTOM 6th: Ashlyn Desaulniers singled up the middle to bring home Paige Stringer, giving Central a 5-0 lead.
- TOP 7th: Leading into the top of the seventh inning the Crusaders were hitless. Kaylee Whittaker struck out the side to complete the no-hitter in seven innings.
KEY MOMENTS – GAME TWO
- BOTTOM 1st: Paige Stringer scored the first run of the game when she reached on a fielder's choice with the bases loaded to score Meg Gorman.
- BOTTOM 3rd: Kendall LaMorte grounded to bring home pinch runner Emma Henry and give Central a 2-0 lead.
- TOP 7th: With runners on second and third Ava Gambichle laced a ball in the 5-6 hole that was scooped up by Ava Cino, but Gambichle beat the throw for Holy Cross. Claire McCann scored from third and the Crusaders were within a run (2-1). With runners on first and third and two outs, Liz Hamilton struck out the next Holy Cross batter to secure the 2-1 victory for Central.

0 - Kaylee Whittaker did not allow a hit through 7 innings with 13 strikeouts. She recorded the first no-hitter in program history since at least 2003 and believed to be the first since a perfect game on April 15, 1992 by Karen Sweezey.
