Softball Falls to Marist in First Loss of the Season
The Central Connecticut softball team suffered their first loss of the season in Hampton, VA vs Marist on Saturday afternoon.
The Central Connecticut softball team suffered their first loss of the season in Hampton, VA vs Marist on Saturday afternoon. The game marked the first time that sophomore left fielder Adrianna Manory played against her twin sister Isabella, a sophomore at Marist University.
Skyler Warn was 1-3 with two RBIs and Meg Gorman was 2-3 with a home run. Ava Cino extended her hit streak to 9 games with a base hit in the fourth inning on Saturday.

KEY MOMENTS
BOTTOM 1ST: Peyton Pusey led off the bottom of the first with a double, stole third, and scored on a two-out double by Haley Ahr, who then came home on an Alyssa Grupp single that gave Marist a 2-0 lead.
BOTTOM 2ND: The Red Foxes added three runs in the second, again all with two outs. Two runs were scored on errors, and Marist took a 3-0 lead.
BOTTOM 3RD: Isabella Manory led off the third with a walk, and scored on a leadoff single by Sophia Recrosio. Miah McDonald followed with a two-run double, which brought home two Red Foxes as they jumped to an early 8-0 lead.
TOP 4TH: Brooke Fedison singled with two outs in the 4th and moved Sophia LoPiccolo into scoring position for Skyler Warn. Warn doubled to left center and brought home LoPicoolo and Fedison as the Blue Devils cut the deficit to 8-2.
BOTTOM 4TH: After Central plated two runs in the top of the fourth, Haley Ahr led off the bottom of the inning with a home run and The Red Foxes would lead 9-2 after four innings.
5TH: Meg Gorman homered to left field and Central cut the deficit to 9-3. Hayley Ahr was hit by a pitch with the bases load in the bottom half to force home Recrosio (10-3).
BOTTOM 6TH: Miah McDonald's three-run homer gave Marist the win by the mercy rule (13-3).
NOTES
- The Red Foxes lead the all-time series 6-2 against the Blue Devils. Central Connecticut won their last matchup between the two teams in 2007 (2-0).

The Blue Devils will play The Hampton Pirates at 10:30 followed by Holy Cross at 12:30. Both games will be played at Hampton University.
