Softball Announces Two New Transfers and Incoming Freshman Class
Blue Devils add 11 for the CCSU Class of 2027 as well as two transfers.
Central Connecticut softball coach Breanne Gleason announced the addition of 13 student-athletes to the CCSU softball squad. Two new additions are transfers. The other 11 recently joined the program in the fall as part of the CCSU Class of 2027.
The incoming freshmen are: Kristina Bozek (Washington, PA) Gianna D'Amico (Romeoville, IL) Adrianna Green (Paulsboro, NJ) Liz Hamilton (Powell, OH) Emma Henry (Jeannette, PA) Sophia LoPiccolo (Jackson, NJ) Maren Metikosh (Belle Vernon, PA) Abby Mitchell (Catonsville, MD) Lina Pizzella (Scarborough, ME) Reagan Vunak (Lebanon, OH) and Graciee Hudnall (Denison, OH).
The transfers are: KC Machado (Miami, FL) and Abby Meehan (Williston Park, NY).
"I am more than excited to welcome all the newcomers to CCSU Softball said Gleason. They add depth all over the diamond and bring a unique energy to an already electric team. I cannot wait to see what new heights this group can bring our program to."
Bozek, a middle infielder, played at Trinity High School and played for Team Pennsylvania.
D'Amico is primarily a first baseman who played at Plainfield East High School and the Chicago Cheetahs.
Green is a pitcher/utility player who will compete for time on the mound and in the box. She played at Gloucester Catholic High School and for the South Jersey Mystics.
Hamilton is primarily a pitcher who looks to be a positive addition to the Blue Devils pitching staff. She went to Buckeye Valley High School and played for the Miami Valley Express.
Henry, an outfielder, played at Greensborough Catholic High School and Team Pennsylvania.
Hudnall played for Indian Valley Lady Braves High School and the Thunder Elite Premier.
LoPiccolo is primarily a second baseman middle infielder, who played at Jackson Memorial High School. She also played travel ball for the South Jersey Mystics.
Metikosh is an outfielder who played at Belle Vernon Area High School. She played for the Ohio Outlaws 05' National Team.
Mitchell, an outfielder, played at Catonsville High School as well as the Goaldcoast Hurricanes.
Pizzella is a first baseman who went to Scarborough High School and played for the NE Elite softball program.
Vunak is a catcher who will be competing for time behind the dish. She attended Lebanon High School and played with Hamilton on Miami Valley Express.
Machado is a middle infielder who went to Doral Performing Arts and Entertainment Academy. She recently transferred to CCSU from Liberty. She delivered the go-ahead single in the 7th inning that eliminated No. 2 UCLA, from the NCAA Los Angeles Regional.
Meehan is a transfer from Hofstra University and appeared in 12 games for the Pride. She went to Mineola High School and was named athlete of the year in 2021.
The Blue Devils are set to play their last fall ball games this weekend October 21st at 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM vs the University of New Haven and Assumption College.
