Softball Sweeps Le Moyne with a Commanding 12-2 Victory on Saturday
The Central Connecticut softball team secured their 16th win after taking the final game of the series vs Le Moyne on Saturday in Syracuse.
Liz Hamilton (6-2) earned her sixth win of the season. She went the distance for The Blue Devils and allowed just three hits, and two runs and struck out seven. The Blue Devils were led by Ava Cino who was 4-4 at the plate with two RBIs. No Blue Devils had more than two RBIs, but six players had one or more. Ashlyn Desaulniers was a perfect 3-3 with a home run and two RBIs.
Laura Bennett (4-11) suffered her eleventh loss of the season. She allowed eight hits and six runs in 2.0 innings of work for The Dolphins.

TOP 1ST: Reagan Vunak homered out of the two-hole for Central as they took an early 1-0 lead.
TOP 2ND: Ashlyn Desaulniers hit her first home run of the season. The solo shot put CCSU up 2-0. Jasmine Lasane followed with a base hit and Kristina Bozek laid down a sac bunt to move Lasane to second. Brooke Fedison singled and Meg Gorman was hit by a pitch to load the bases for Central. With two outs Paige Stringer singled up the middle that brought home Fedison and Lasane as Central took a 4-0 lead. Ava Cino followed with a two RBI single and Central took a commanding 6-0 lead.
TOP 3RD: The Blue Devils plated three more runs with an RBI single from Bozek and a few wild pitches by The Dolphins as CCSU took a 9-0 lead after three.
TOP 4TH: Ava Cino notched her third straight single and pinch runner Abigail Mitchell was hit in via a Desaulniers double. Bozek singled through the left side and The Blue Devils took an 11-0 lead.
BOTTOM 4TH: The Dolphins scored one run on two hits to bring the score to 11-1.
TOP 5TH: Pinch hitter Matison Piripavel doubled to right center to lead off the inning. Freshman, Maren Metikosh followed with a single that scored Gorman who reentered for Piripavel and CCSU led 12-1.
BOTTOM 5TH: The Dolphins got a run back with a sacrifice fly, but it was not enough to avoid the 10-run mercy rule after five innings and Central went home with the NEC sweep.

This was the third matchup between Central and Le Moyne after joining the NEC this year. Central now leads the all-time series 3-0.
