Men's Soccer Storms by Mount St. Mary's, 4-1
The Central Connecticut men's soccer team picked up its first win of the season with a convincing 4-1 performance over Mount St. Mary's in Northeast Conference action at Waldron Family Stadium. The Blue Devils would score four unanswered goals, with two in each half, to down the Mountaineers.
The Blue Devils will host Howard on Sunday, Oct. 3, at 3:00 p.m.

KEY MOMENTS
- Mount St. Mary's opened the scoring at the 15:48 mark when Juan Molina collected his own rebound and put it into an unguarded net to make it 1-0.
- CCSU would respond with a pair of goals to take a lead into halftime. Freshman Johnny Morell knotted the game at 24:04 when we poked in a shot off a scramble in front of the net. Just under eight minutes later, the Blue Devils got a free kick just outside the Mount St. Mary's area. Junior Sean Gannon would get his shot over the wall and sent into the left side of the net to make it 2-1.
- The Blue Devils would tack on two goals after halftime to seal the win. At the 62:38 mark, freshman Jakob Welle-Smogeli dribbled through the Mount defense and put a low shot into the net for his first career CCSU goal. In the 78th minute, freshman Ivan Farias-Martinez stole the ball in the midfield and would feed freshman Erik Hjertsson who sent a shot across the goal to the right corner to make it 4-1.

4 - Central's offense came to life with four goals after entering the game having scored just three times on the year. CCSU has scored four goals in each of its last two wins (4-0, at Bryant, 4/5/21).
NOTES
- The Blue Devils are unbeaten against Mount St. Mary's in the last two meetings.
- Junior Jason Dubrovich made a season-high seven saves for his first win on the season.
- CCSU outshot Mount, 14-10, on the afternoon. Gannon had a team-high three shots.
- Central ended a scoreless stretc spanning 212:32 over three-plus games.
