Welle-Smogeli Scores Twice, Men's Soccer Falls to Bryant in Double-Overtime
The Central Connecticut men's soccer team played its third straight double-overtime contest, but fell to Bryant 3-2 on Sunday at CCSU Soccer Field. Freshman Jakob Welle-Smogeli scored twice for CCSU, including a late goal to force overtime, but it was not enough for the Blue Devils.

KEY MOMENTS
- Central opened the scoring in the 30th minute off a free kick. Junior Sean Gannon whipped a kick into the area where Welle-Smogeli got his head to it and sent it to the far post to make it 1-0.
- Bryant came back to take the lead with two second half goals. Jake Spaulding tied the game in the 50th minute on a header off a ball from Kyle Mabe. The Bulldogs took the lead at 58:06 when Kyle Mabe and Jake Spaulding had a combination of passes and slipped the ball to Diego Rodriguez for a goal from close range to make it 2-1.
- Welle-Smogeli forced overtime when he drove in from the right wing and had his shot deflected in to make it 2-2 in the 88th minute.
- Rogriguez would score the winner for Bryant in the 103rd minute when his shot through traffic found the back of the net.
