Northeast Conference Releases Men's Soccer Preseason Poll
Central Connecticut men's soccer was tabbed seventh in the Northeast Conference's preseason coaches poll announced on Wednesday.
Despite playing in a shortened spring season of seven games in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, interim head coach Dave Kelly led Central to its first .500 season since 2013. This will be Kelly's second season at the helm for CCSU. The Blue Devils were also a game away from making the NEC Tournament, which had fewer teams playing in it than normal.
St. Francis Brooklyn was selected as the favorite in the poll, receiving eight first-place votes from coaches around the league. LIU was rigt behind the Terriers in voting, finishing second with two first-place votes.
The Blue Devils will be kicking off their season on August 31 with a road game against Rhode Island. The NEC Tournament is scheduled to start on November 12 and will be hosted at the site of the highest seed.
