Walmsley, Abele Named Scholar All-East Region
Blue Devils also won the NEC Regular Season Title
Junior goalkeeper Josef Abele and midfielder Stephen Walmsley continued to garner post-season honors following an exceptional Central Connecticut men's soccer season on 2013. The Blue Devils won the 2013 regular season Northeast Conference title earlier this fall.
This week Abele and Walmsley were honored for their work in the classroom. The pair were named to the 2013 NSCAA University Division Men's Scholar All-East Region Second Team.

CCSU MEN'S SOCCER EARNS NSCAA TEAM ACADEMIC HONOR
Walmsley had a pair of assists this season for the Blue Devils, and both came at crucial times for CCSU. He assisted on the game-winning goal in overtime in a 4-3 win at Sacred Heart. He also assisted on the first goal of the game at home vs. Robert Morris in a 2-1 win. He was named to the Second-Team All-NEC squad following the season.
Abele had a standout season in his first year as a starter for CCSU. Abele posted a overall record of 9-5 and a 6-1 mark in NEC play. He had seven total shutouts (he also shared one) with four of those came against conference opponents. Abele posted a 1.24 goals against average and a save percentage of .786 in his first season in goal. He was also named to the Second-Team All-NEC squad.
