UMBC Tops Men's Soccer 3-1 on Thursday
Blue Devils are now 0-3 on the season
The Central Connecticut men's soccer team fell to 0-3 on the season with a 3-1 loss on the road at UMBC on Thursday night. The Blue Devils are back in action on Saturday at Navy beginning at 7 p.m.
Sophomore Zach Zurita scored his first goal of the season for the Blue Devils to lead the offense. The Blue Devils had just five total shots in the game, including Zurita's goal in the 88th minute.
UMBC outshot Central 21-5 in the match, and were led by Pete Caringi who scored his fifth and sixth goals of the season in the win. UMBC is now 3-0 on the season.
UMBC led 1-0 at halftime, led by the first goal of the match from Caringi. His second came in the 56th minute and pushed the lead to 2-0. A Kadeem Dacres goal in the 77th minute made it 3-0.
Junior goalkeeper Josef Abele made a season-high eight saves in net for the Blue Devils, but his record dropped to 0-2 on the year.
Central returns to action, playing the fourth of five straight road games to start the season, on Saturday night on the road at Navy. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
