Men's Soccer Drops Home Decision to Army
CCSU returns to league action on Friday at 7 p.m.
The Central Connecticut men's soccer team dropped to 6-6-1 on the season with a 2-0 non-conference loss to Army on Tuesday night in New Britain. The loss is just the second for the Blue Devils in the last nine games.
The Blue Devils came into the game ranked fourth in this week's NSCAA North Atlantic Regional poll. They are also in the top-60 in the country in RPI, according to the latest NCAA release on Monday.
Army is now 11-1-1 on the season with the victory.
The Black Knights scored their first goal with 8:27 left in the first half. Central got possesson deep in its own end, but a turnover gave the ball to Nick Williams just outside the box near the end line. Williams beat Central junior keeper Rafal Krauze to the far left side of the goal for the 1-0 lead.
The lead reached 2-0 in the second half when Ethan Spivack scored his fourth goal of the season for the Black Knights. Spivack took a feed from th left side from Sean Mogan and beat Blue Devil keeper Nick Velleca, who had entered the game after halftime.
The Blue Devils return to Northeast Conference play this Friday night at 7 p.m. hosting St. Francis Brooklyn. Fans can watch the game live on www.NECFrontRow.com.
The Blue Devils are 3-0 in NEC play, while the Terriers enter the game 2-1 in league action and ranked #2 in the North Atlantic Region.
