Men's Soccer Wins With Another Shutout
Zurita and Bogle score in 2-0 win
The Central Connecticut men's soccer team didn't allow a goal for the third straight game and won 2-0 on the road at Stony Brook on Sunday afternoon. With the win the Blue Devils are now 2-4-1 overall on the season. Central hasn't allowed a goal in its last three games, a span on 280 minutes.
Sophomore Zach Zurita continued to contribute to the Blue Devils offense, posting his third goal of the season as well as assisting on the second goal which came in the second half.
Zurita now has three goals and two assists on the year. He has had a hand in all five goals scored by the Blue Devils this season.
Junior Josef Abele posted his second straight shutout, stopping a pair of Seawolf shots on goal while improving his record to 2-2-0 on the year.
Zurita scored the lone goal of the first half on a shot from 25 yards out, beating Stony Brook keeper Joseph Orben for the 1-0 lead in the 15th minute.
After halftime Zurita assisted on the second goal of the season from senior Eddy Bogle. Bogle took the pass from Zurita and one-timed it past the keeper for the two goal lead.
Central outshot the Seawolves 7-3 in shots on goal. They also posted one team save to help preserve the shutout.
The Blue Devils return to action on Saturday at Monmouth beginning at 7 p.m.
