Mullen, Men's Golf Both Finish 5th at NEC Championship
Senior finishes +7 to tie for fifth place
Senior Monte Mullen finished in a tie for fifth place overall and the Central Connecticut men's golf team moved up one more spot to take fifth place in the 2015 Northeast Conference Men's Golf Championship that finished on Sunday.
The Blue Devils shot 312 as a team on the final day at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, FL, to move past St. Francis U for fifth place overall. Robert Morris won the team title with a score of 892. Bryant (906), Fairleigh Dickinson (917) and LIU Brooklyn (917) and the Blue Devils (929) rounded out the top five.
Mullen fired a final round score of 77 to finish in a tie for fifth place overall with a three-day score of 223, good for +7. George Williams from LIU Brooklyn took the individual title with a score of 217.
Central placed three golfers in the top-18, led by Mullen. Junior Jack Ayers shot a 76 on Sunday and finished with a three-day score of 231, good for +15 on the par 72 course, which measured 6,919 yards on Friday and Sunday. It played 6,882 yards on Saturday.
Sophomore Matt Hills shot 77 on Sunday and finished in a tie for 17th place overall with a score of 233 (+17).
Sophomore Bryant Bolden shot 82 on Sunday, finishing in a tie for 35th place overall with a score of 245. Junior Connor Murphy also fired an 82 on Sunday and finished at 246 in 38th place.
