Men's Golf Climbs to 7th at Tuxedo Invitational
Mullen shoots a 78-71 to lead CCSU in the first day
The Central Connecticut men's golf team climbed to seventh place after the second round of the Tuxedo Autumn Invitational on Friday. Senior Monte Mullen followed his first round 78 with a second round score of 71 to pace the Blue Devils. The tournament is being played in Tuxedo Park, NY, and is being hosted by Columbia.
PLAYER RESULTS
Central shot a team score of 326 in the first round and was ninth, but followed that up with an impressive 298 in the second round to climb to seventh place. The 298 was the second-best team round of the first two rounds, trailing only a 297 by Monmouth, also in the second round.
Mullen is tied for sixth place overall after his 149 in the first two rounds. His 71 in round two was the second best individual round of the day.
Sophomore Matt Hils is tied for 25th place after shooting 81-76. Junior Connor Murphy is tied for 31st place after shooting 84-75 for a score of 159. Freshman Anthony Sebastianelli shot 84-76 and is tied for 36th place overall. Classmate Brandon Raine is tied for 40th place after shooting 83-80.
Columbia leads the team scoring with a 604, followed by Hostra (609), Lehigh (615), Monmouth (616) and Bucknell (617).
After improving 28 shots from the first round to the second round the Blue Devils are just nine shots out of the top-three teams in the tournament.
The third and final round will be played on Saturday morning.
