Hills Wins NEIGA Division I Individual Title
Blue Devils finish fourth at annual tournament
Sophomore Matt Hills fired a second round total of 72 and claimed Individual Medalist honors at the 80th Annual NEIGA Championship on Monday afternoon. Hills is the second straight Blue Devil to win the individual title, joining teammate Monte Mullen who won in 2013.
Hills fired an even par round of 72 on Monday at The Captains Course in Brewster, MA to claim the title. He had shot a +2 score of 74 on Sunday in the tournament's first round. He won medalist honors by one strokes over Harry Hulme of UMass-Lowell.
The Blue Devils finished in fourth place overall as a team with a two-round score of 612, tying them with Holy Cross. Central shot 309 on day one and shot 303 on Monday. Fairfield University won the team title with a score of 601, followed by UMass-Lowell (607), Rhode Island (608), CCSU and Holy Cross, and then Providence (626) and Bryant (627).
Mullen shot 78-76 overall this year to finish in a tie for 14th place, along with sophomore teammate Matthew Mahlke (155, +11). Mahlke shot 77-78 in his two rounds.
Junior Jack Ayers finished in a tie for 22nd place, shooting 80-77 (157) and classmate Connor Murphy finished in 30th place overall after rounds of 84-78.
The Blue Devils have completed their fall schedule.
