Men's Golf T4th, Mullen T2nd at Turning Stone
Mullen shoots 70 to tied for 2nd place overall
The Central Connecticut men's golf team shot a third round total of 298 and tied for fourth place overall after the second and final day of the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate at the Kaluhyat Course at Turning Stone in Verona, NY. The course is a par-72 that measures 7,105 yards. Senior Monte Mullen shot -2 on the final day of the tournament, finishing in a tie for second place overall with a three-round total of 216 (E).
Mullen's 70 on Monday was tied for the second-lowest score of the day, and allowed him to climb two spots in the final round. After a +3, 75 in the first round, Mullen finished the final two rounds at -3.
Junior Jack Ayers shot a final round score of 75 to finish in 16th place overall (228, +12). Sophomore Matt Hills shot 72 in the final round to climb to a tie for 28th place overall. Hills, who shot 82 in the first round, shot 77 in the second round and then 72 on Monday to finish at 231 (+5).
Sophomore Bryant Bolden shot 81 on Monday, to finish at 281 (+32) for the three-round tournament. Sophomore Matthew Mahlke fired an 89 on Monday to finish in a tie for 50th place overall.
The Blue Devils will continue the fall schedule hosting the Annual CCSU Fall Blue Devil Invitational, this year being held at Wintonbury Hills Golf Club in Bloomfield, CT. The tournament will take place on Sunday, Sept. 7 and Monday, Sept. 8.
