Men's Golf Fourth After Day One at NEIGA
Matt Hills leads Blue Devils with round one 74
The Central Connecticut men's golf team sits in fourth place after the first round of the NEIGA Division I Championships on Sunday. The tournament is being played at the Captain's Course in Brewster, MA.
The Blue Devils fired a first round score of 309, and sit just three shots out of second place. Fairfield is first with a team score of 300, follow by Rhode Island (306), UMass-Lowell (308) and then the Blue Devils. Holy Cross is fifth (312) followed by Bryant (315) and Providence (318).
Sophomore Matt Hills led the Blue Devils in the first round with a score of 74. He sits in a tie for fourth place. Classmate Matthew Mahlke shot 77 and is tied for 11th place. Senior Monte Mullen fired a score of 78 and is tied for 14th place overall.
Junior Jack Ayers shot 80 and classmate Connor Murphy shot an 84 to complete the scoring for the Blue Devils.
The second round of the tournament will be played on Monday.
