Men's Golf in Second at Lonnie Barton Invitational
Hills tied for third place overall
The Central Connecticut men's golf team sits in second place out of 11 teams at the Lonnie Barton Invitational in Daytona Beach, FL. The tournament is being hosted by LIU Brooklyn at the LPGA International Hills Course. The second and final round will take place on Tuesday.
Central shot a team score of 308 and sits in second place behind tournament leader and host LIU. The Blackbirds shot a score of 298, followed by CCSU (308) and St. Francis U (309). Siena and Fairfield round out the top five, each shooting 321 in the first round.
Sophomore Matt Hills sits in a tie for third place overall after shooting a round one score of 74. Classmate Bryant Bolden is in a tie for fifth place overall after shooting 75, followed by senior Monte Mullen who is tied for 14th after a 78 in the first round.
Junior Jack Ayers shot an 81 and is tied for 27th place overall, followed by junior Connor Murphy who fired an 86 on Monday.
The second and final round will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
