Central Places 10th at Peacock Invite
Dan Fanion led all Blue Devils at the St. Peter's Peacock Invitational.
The Central Connecticut men's golf team finished the St. Peter's Peacock Invitational in 10th place on the final leader board Monday. The team shot a 311 after one day of tournament action.
St. Peter's College hosted the 18-hole tournament at Neshanic Golf Course in Neshanic Station, NJ. The par-72 course played 6,645 yards long.
The Blue Devils scored lower than NEC rivals St. Francis (N.Y.) who finished 11th (315) and Wagner who finished 12th (317). St. Peter's secured the tournament victory placing first with a score of 289. Iona (290) placed second, Fairleigh Dickinson (297) third, and Fordham (303) tied for fourth with Manhattan (303) to round out the top-five.
Leading the way for the Blue Devils was junior Dan Fanion who carded a 74 (38/36/74). His score was good for a 13th place tie in the individual standings. Fanion has scored lower than 75 in five out of six consecutive rounds played, the only Blue Devil to do so.
Senior Kevin Josephson shot a 38 on the front nine and a 37 coming out. His 75 notched him a 17th place tie individually.
Sophomore Daniel Morgan finished tied for 44th (38/42/80) and junior Ashley Crawford tied for 54th place (41/41/82). Senior Travis Fifi appeared in his first tournament of the season and shot an 83 (41/42/83), good for a 57th place tie.
Up next for the Blue Devils will be the Northeast Conference Championship, their final tournament of the 2011-12 season. International Golf Club in Daytona will host the three day tournament which will open play on May 4th.
